Meet Jessica Kluge, a Realtor® Breaking Through Ceilings

In celebration of Women’s History Month, we’re featuring five business-savvy women. We’ve interviewed female professionals from various industries including real estate, the nonprofit sector, graphic design, and business owners.

These women are not only courageous and inspirational; they are proof that you can achieve any goal with dedication and determination.

We had the opportunity to interview Jessica Kluge, Realtor® at Keller Williams Realty – Charlotte SouthPark to get to know more about her and her journey as a successful Real Estate Agent.

Will you tell us a little about yourself?

I am originally from Charlotte, and I moved back after college. I have played volleyball most of my life, and in a way, it has shaped who I am today. The volleyball community is a great way to meet new people. I met most, if not all of my closest friends, and even my fiancé playing.

I live in the Plaza Midwood area with my fiancé Tommy and our two dogs. We love the active community and that the location is centrally located to just about everything.

Why did you decide to become a real estate agent?

I was previously in wine sales and felt like I hit my ceiling as a distributor. I have always wanted to work for myself, creating my own business vision, while still helping others.

Why was Keller Williams Realty – Charlotte SouthPark the right choice for you?

I chose Keller Williams SouthPark for the culture and the training. Their training is truly top-notch, especially when you compare it to other companies and new agents. As a new agent, you need all the help you can get. They are big on setting goals and reaching the ceiling only to create a newer bigger one.

What has been the biggest challenge in your career?

The biggest challenge I have experienced in my career is always having to be on. I am never not working. It’s not like a standard nine to five job. I always have to be prepared to talk about work and the Charlotte market. Over time I have learned how to create a healthy balance between work and family.

What has been your greatest accomplishment?

In my first year in the business, I was nominated for Rookie of the Year based on my sales volume, by the Carolina Realtor Association.

What goals do you have for the future?

I want to break into the corporate world. Creating a streamlined program, while working with HR departments helping employees buy and sell homes during their on and offboarding processes.

Who has been your greatest mentor?

My old team lead, Nicole George. She has taught me just about everything I know. She molded me into a successful agent.

What’s the best advice you ever took?

Have patience. Set expectations from the beginning and don’t over promise and under deliver. In a field of customer service communication is everything. No one expects you to be perfect, own your mistakes, and move forward.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out in the real estate industry?

Absorb everything. Find a mentor that has been in the business and can offer advice. Every client is different, and it is our job to adapt.

How do you stay up-to-date with the latest real estate trends?

Inman is a great resource. But also, by being in my office constantly talking about what is happening in our market. There is always new technology, especially right now at Keller Williams. They are rolling out programs to help support agents as technology has taken over consumers.
