Everything You Need To Know About: Silk Laminate

What is Silk Laminated?  Silk laminate is a smooth protectant lamination that covers the paper. When applied to your print product, it provides an elegant and stylish look and feel.

Why use Silk Laminated? This unique lamination protects paper from smudges, stains, creases, rips, scratches, chipping, and is also tear and water-resistant. If you want a business card or printed product that is durable, smooth to the touch and stands out among the rest, Silk Laminate is the way to go.

What products come in Silk Laminate? We offer a large variety of products with Silk Laminate. Some include: postcards, hang tags, sell sheets, presentation folders, trading cards, invitations and announcements. And add an extra pop by including stamped foil &/or spot UV to your silk laminate piece.

Recommended Uses: Silk is one of the most popular options for business cards. They stand out in a stack of cards and hold up well when carrying them in your wallet. The silk laminate paper also makes beautiful invitations and can elevate the look and feel of your presentation folders, rack cards, and hang tags. Any printed piece that you want your customers to hold on to for a long period of time works well with Silk.

The Specifics:

-Paper: 16PT C2S (Coated 2 Sides) Card Stock

-Lamination: Soft touch dull lamination applied to both sides of the card after printing increasing the thickness of the card to 19PT

-Printing: 4-color process printing (CMYK), single or double sided.

Can you write on silk laminate paper? Yes. But be aware that ball point pens take a little longer to dry. The ink can smudge if you do not let it sit awhile. For best results, sharpies work great! Pencils will not show up and aren’t recommended.

Folds: While we do offer a single score on our Silk Laminated products, but be aware that when folded, the paper does not always lay flat. On a greeting card, for example, the card may appear slightly open. This is due to the thickness of the paper and the durability of the lamination.

Turnaround times: During a normal production time, Silk Laminate takes 2-4 business days to produce. If you add stamped foil, however, production time increases to 5-7 business days.

Absolutely stunning! Flowers were produced using a "Blind Spot UV" technique. Logo is stamped with Gold Foil. TIP: Be sure to keep Spot UV and Gold Foil at least 1/8inch away from each other.
