One of the great things about Primoprint is that we really are a one-stop shop. Just about everything you may need can be designed and ordered from the same place. One of the benefits is that your marketing materials can be designed to match your brand.

Each piece can be printed on the same paper stocks with the same color values, and you don’t have to jump from company to company when trying to figure out what to order from where. We try very hard to make sure all your needs are met and that the ordering process is as quick and easy as possible.

That being said, we recently had a company called Newport Asia come to us with some design and printing needs. They already had part of a logo, but it needed a couple small tweaks. I adjusted the file to get it print-ready and then began working with them to create

We took a very simple, classic look for each item, and all of their pieces were printed on linen, except for the folder which we printed on matte. When completed, everything matched wonderfully. Each piece coordinated so well together as they all had the same color values and textures.

Now, when Newport Asia sends material to customers, they will feel like they have a complete brand. It’s amazing how having these simple items can really elevate the appeal and sophistication of a business.

Primo Print: Printing custom designed marketing material. Business Cards, Letterhead, Envelopes, Presentation Folders, Notepads and More!

Many people undervalue the prospect of having high quality business cards when they’re trying to advance their professional career. It is very important to have a business card that correctly projects the image that you want your company or personal brand to stand for.

Think of your business card as the one tie this potential customer will have with your company. You want them to remember you, not discard you.

There are different stylistic avenues that people take when they’re trying to design the perfect business card. Each individual is different, which means each business card should be different too. They’re like the snowflakes of the business world! Well, Primoprint offers a large selection of printing options and features to create you a one-of-a-kind custom business card.

4 Business Card Design Tips

Keep it Simple:

Remember that saying from the 5th grade,“KISS”? Well, that philosophy applies here too. Stick to the bare minimum of information. Doing this is effective for two reasons. It makes your business card easier to read, and it makes the information on your card much easier to remember for those you network with.

What phone number do you want people to reach you on? Most of the time it isn’t necessary to include your cell, office, direct line and a fax number all on one card. Pick the one or two that are the most important and only include those. Another thing to think about are social media icons. Just placing the icons by themselves is usually enough to tell people where to find you on social. It isn’t necessary to type out your handles for each site.

Just seeing the icon tells people you are on twitter, so they can just enter your name into the search to find you easily, without cluttering up your card. Lastly, try to stick to one, maybe two fonts. Putting any more than that will make the card hard to read and will look too busy.

You can create a classic and beautiful business cards by including an elegant logo and accent colors to the design.

Size of the Business Card:

When people think of business cards, there is a typical size that comes to mind: 3.5″ x 2”.  Why not make your card stand out among their stack with an unusual size? The European size is growing popularity in the states (3.375” x 1.125″) or try a square card. We can print 2″ x 2″ business card or 2.5″ x 2.5″ – both options help you to be a little different than the competition. You can read more about square business cards by reading: Be Different, Try Square Business Cards.

Utilize your Space:

People make the mistake of putting a lot of additional information all on one side, when in truth, a two sided card is the same price as a one, so why not use it! I always think of the second side of a business card like a book cover. It gives you a little taste of what you will find on the other side. Even if you only include your logo, it’s a nice way to introduce yourself. If you have a lot of contact information that needs to be included on the other side, maybe separate it out by putting your web address &/or physical address with the logo on one side.

And if your logo is large on the one side, you can either exclude it or make is much smaller on the contact information side. This will help free up space and make the card less cluttered.

Match your Paper to your Business:

There are so many different options out there for business card paper. Each one is unique and can help tell your story; so, choose one that best fits your business. If you are an organic snack company, I wouldn’t recommend you order a plastic or glossy card. Go for an uncoated paper, such as The ModCard, painted edge business card or linen. These papers will help sell the natural, organic feeling you represent.

I had a customer that sold light screens, and he chose a 20PT frosted plastic card. The card type was perfect for him because it reinforced the idea of light shining through his screens. A clothing company may want to look at the velvet laminated cards because this soft touch card can remind someone how their fabric may feel.

With so many different options, you can really appeal to the senses of touch and sight at the same time. The above are four great ways to ensure that you have an effective and professional looking business card. The main things to adhere to are using the right size for you and your business and not overdoing the design. A simple business card with minimal information is much more effective than one that offers an abundant of information.

A few weeks ago, a new customer came to us in need of a logo. She was starting a Medispa and had an idea to use a peacock as her visual. She even had a drawing of the bird that she though we could use as starting point or reference. The peacock was to make the shape of an “S,” and she wanted to include two birds facing each other, almost making a heart in the center.

The drawing she provided was very detailed. We needed to simplify it in order to allow it to produce well at a small size. It also needed to be shaped a little differently so that if formed an “S”. As our graphic designer started on the outline of the design, they wanted to get her feedback – to make sure the design was going in the right direction. The client liked the start of the bird, but thought that the neck needed to be curved more and that the “S” shape would be more defined.

Graphic Design ProjectOnce the outline was adjusted and approved, it was time to add some color. We sampled a few different color pallets, but found a beautiful photo of a Peacock feather. This would make the perfect palette.

Logo Design Color Pallet

Finding the right font was challenging. We needed to find one that was simple and clean, so it didn’t take away from the bird design, but also allowed the logo to feel fluid and soft. After playing around with different fonts, we decided on Alright Sans Light & Dancing Script.

Alright Sans Light is a contemporary font. It offers a friendly tone and is described as clean and warm. This font works well across different types of print media and can be reduced in size and can still be clear to read.

Dancing Script is described as a casual script. The letters seem to change in size slightly and bounce. This is a popular font for designs that are informal, friendly and offer an informal look.

The customer was very happy with the end result. The logo will be used on their website, business cards & other printed material such as flyers, notepads and more.

A recent customer came to us with a need for a logo. Located in Atlanta, Guardian Solutions is a new company that offers financial planning.

After going over the background of the company, as well as the fundamentals of what they do/believe in, we decided that an eagle would the perfect symbol for Guardian. We played with a few variations of the eagle, but thought that something more geometric and fluid would work best. After drawing the eagle, we decided to make the type very simple, so that it didn’t take away from the power of the eagle.

We also played around with a few color combinations. Did the eagle need to be traditional colors in order to read clearly? Could the eagle be brown or blue and still have the same impact? Although the customer did like the alternatives, we decided that the grey, yellow and black were the most powerful.Guardian Custom Logo DesignOverall, the customer was very happy with the end result. They were provided with all logo files and will be using the design on a variety of products. We designed custom business cards to start and will be working on business brochures, presentation folders and business letterhead in the upcoming weeks.
