Many people undervalue the prospect of having high quality business cards when they’re trying to advance their professional career. It is very important to have a business card that correctly projects the image that you want your company or personal brand to stand for.

Think of your business card as the one tie this potential customer will have with your company. You want them to remember you, not discard you.

There are different stylistic avenues that people take when they’re trying to design the perfect business card. Each individual is different, which means each business card should be different too. They’re like the snowflakes of the business world! Well, Primoprint offers a large selection of printing options and features to create you a one-of-a-kind custom business card.

4 Business Card Design Tips

Keep it Simple:

Remember that saying from the 5th grade,“KISS”? Well, that philosophy applies here too. Stick to the bare minimum of information. Doing this is effective for two reasons. It makes your business card easier to read, and it makes the information on your card much easier to remember for those you network with.

What phone number do you want people to reach you on? Most of the time it isn’t necessary to include your cell, office, direct line and a fax number all on one card. Pick the one or two that are the most important and only include those. Another thing to think about are social media icons. Just placing the icons by themselves is usually enough to tell people where to find you on social. It isn’t necessary to type out your handles for each site.

Just seeing the icon tells people you are on twitter, so they can just enter your name into the search to find you easily, without cluttering up your card. Lastly, try to stick to one, maybe two fonts. Putting any more than that will make the card hard to read and will look too busy.

You can create a classic and beautiful business cards by including an elegant logo and accent colors to the design.

Size of the Business Card:

When people think of business cards, there is a typical size that comes to mind: 3.5″ x 2”.  Why not make your card stand out among their stack with an unusual size? The European size is growing popularity in the states (3.375” x 1.125″) or try a square card. We can print 2″ x 2″ business card or 2.5″ x 2.5″ – both options help you to be a little different than the competition. You can read more about square business cards by reading: Be Different, Try Square Business Cards.

Utilize your Space:

People make the mistake of putting a lot of additional information all on one side, when in truth, a two sided card is the same price as a one, so why not use it! I always think of the second side of a business card like a book cover. It gives you a little taste of what you will find on the other side. Even if you only include your logo, it’s a nice way to introduce yourself. If you have a lot of contact information that needs to be included on the other side, maybe separate it out by putting your web address &/or physical address with the logo on one side.

And if your logo is large on the one side, you can either exclude it or make is much smaller on the contact information side. This will help free up space and make the card less cluttered.

Match your Paper to your Business:

There are so many different options out there for business card paper. Each one is unique and can help tell your story; so, choose one that best fits your business. If you are an organic snack company, I wouldn’t recommend you order a plastic or glossy card. Go for an uncoated paper, such as The ModCard, painted edge business card or linen. These papers will help sell the natural, organic feeling you represent.

I had a customer that sold light screens, and he chose a 20PT frosted plastic card. The card type was perfect for him because it reinforced the idea of light shining through his screens. A clothing company may want to look at the velvet laminated cards because this soft touch card can remind someone how their fabric may feel.

With so many different options, you can really appeal to the senses of touch and sight at the same time. The above are four great ways to ensure that you have an effective and professional looking business card. The main things to adhere to are using the right size for you and your business and not overdoing the design. A simple business card with minimal information is much more effective than one that offers an abundant of information.

Brochures are great for discussing and displaying what your business or organization has to offer. So, it’s important to make sure you create the brochure appropriately, making it a dynamic marketing tool for any business. We’ve include some helpful tips below, from selecting the right size to the appropriate content, to make your brochure a success.

Creative Design

The design can attract potential customers and is considered very important. A poorly designed brochure can turn off the readers and possibly make your business look unprofessional. It’s best to keep the design clear and simple.

You’ll want to make sure the images and content are easy to read and most importantly, able to be understood easily. Including colorful graphs or statistics can be helpful, but make sure the consumer can easily understand the message you want to convey. A confused consumer can result in a lost sale. If you’re having a problem coming up with a design or have no idea where to start, our graphic designers will be happy to assist.

The Brochure Cover

Selecting the image and design for the cover is important. Similar to a thesis statement, your goal is to grab the reader’s attention and have them continue to read the brochure. Without a good looking cover, the brochure can be overlooked. The brochure cover should create an emotional connection, from curiosity to excitement. Be creative, so it will make people want to continue reading.

The Content

Print Brochures with Primo PrintNow that you have captured your reader’s attention, it’s time to create the content. The next step is to present your message and offers in detail. You’ll want to include content that brings awareness, drives sales, or boosts repeat purchases. Once you have determined the purpose of the brochure, you’ll have a better understanding how to arrange the content and ranking of their importance. One thing to remember, however, is that people like clear, concise content. Try to remove all fluff and unneeded text. The shorter and to-the-point it is, the more likely people will read the entire brochure.

Folding Options and Size

A popular layout that’s chosen most often is the basic tri-fold. It is most commonly included in a marketing campaign, and it is great for showcasing a business, promoting a brand, or highlighting products and services effectively. Depending on the use, there are other folding options and sizes to select from, including the half fold, z-fold, roll fold, and more. For more details about each folding option, check out the different folding options we offer.

Brochure Folding Options Available

The size should be long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to make the brochure interesting. The more products and services your business offers, the brochure size tends be larger to accommodate the information. Keep in mind, if your business offers thousands of products or services, that doesn’t mean you need to try and include all of them. You can always send readers to your website for more details or to share information on topics not covered in the brochure. View our brochure photo gallery.

Paper Stock

Once printed, brochures have a tendency to have a longer-shelf life than other marketing materials, so the paper stock you choose is very important. Often times, this can be overlooked. Selecting the overall thickness of the paper stock and choosing the coating can play in an important role. Selecting a glossy paper can give it a more appealing look, and using a thick paper can make it look more professional.

We offer different types of paper thickness (100LB, 70LB and 80LB) and coatings such as aqueous, satin, glossy uv and no coating. Depending on your message and target market, the paper stock can play an important role in the design. We’ve written a previous blog that may be helpful on choosing the right paper stock.

It’s November, and that means the Holiday season is upon us! When Thanksgiving is on the horizon, for many businesses, this means it’s time to send out greeting cards to potential customers, suppliers, clients, and even employees.

Holiday cards generally have two purposes: staying in touch with former, existing or potential customers or as a thank you to the individuals at companies you have an ongoing relationship with.

You’ll want to make sure that your card offers a personal touch. This can easily be done by signing each card individually, and including a short personal message, or mentioning something specific to the recipient. If you’re going to be sending out thousands of cards, you can always include your signature in the card’s design. By including a signature, it definitely adds a personal touch.

When thinking about sending Holiday cards, the recipient should receive the card before the end of the year. It’s best to have them sent out no later than the second week in December. During this month, businesses often close early for the holidays, and you’ll want to make sure they receive the card before they all leave for the holidays.

The postal service is extremely busy this time of year, so make sure you leave plenty of time for delivery.
